Repurposing coal preparation plant 1 & 3

We are busy transforming coal preparation plant 1 and 3 into be-Nature, a project where nature and industrial heritage come together in a unique way. Curious to know what these coal preparation plants used to look like and the construction work that is taking place there? In the video (NL) you get a look behind the scenes to see the hard work going on inside the walls of coal preparation plant 1 and 3.

Bike lane

Soon you will be able to ride your bike through, or rather under, the mine buildings. The coal preparation plants were built on “stilts” so that the sorted coal could easily be loaded into train cars. This creates a unique situation: follow the old coal tracks and you will cycle through a long corridor under the mine buildings. We took advantage of this special feature to build a bike path, which will soon allow you to cycle under the mine buildings. As soon as the construction on be-MINE Boulevard is finished, you can effortlessly cycle from one side to the other, right through the mine site.
